Ron possesses a Bachelor degree in Psychology from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He also has a Masters degree in Community Counseling from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Ron has over 20 years of work in the human services field. Ron is a licensed mental health therapist in both Iowa and Nebraska and currently provides individual, couples, and family counseling services to youth and adults. Ron is the agency director of Choices Counseling.
Robert has a bachelor of science from Grand Valley State University and a master of science degree in Community Counseling from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He has 10 years experience providing in-home family centered counseling services and office based therapy services. Robert currently provides therapy services to couples, families, and individuals, he is trained as a Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) therapist. Additionally, he is a supervisor for agency BHIS services.
Deb graduated with both a Bachelors degree and a Masters degree in Community Counseling from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Deb has over 7 years of experience working in the human service field. Deb is licensed to provide mental health therapy in both Iowa and Nebraska. Deb currently provides individual, family, and couples therapy, as well as PCIT therapy.
Kelli has a Bachelors degree from Midland Lutheran College and a Masters degree in Community Counseling from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Kelli has over 10 years of experience providing counseling services to youth and adults. Kelli currently serves individuals, couples, and families. She is a licensed mental health therapist in both Iowa and Nebraska and specializes in the use of Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), EMDR, and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Kelli is also the agency director of therapy services.
Erica Ochs, MS LMHC
Erica received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Grace University and then went on to get her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Before completing her counseling degree she spent three years working with clients with behavior disorders at a residential facility and in a school setting. She completed a year internship at Open Door Mission working with single women dealing with addictions. She has been doing mental health counseling since October of 2010.
Teena has her Master of social work degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She is currently an LMSW working towards becoming an LISW. She has 18 years of experience providing family centered services to families in their home and in the office. Teena provides mental health therapy, Child Mental Health Waiver therapy and BHIS. Teena specializes in reactive attachment, PCIT, CBT, and DBT. Teena is the director of the Logan office and is a supervisor at the Council Bluffs office.
Natalie Bussing, MS LMHC
Natalie is a Licensed Master of Social Work. She recently completed her Master of Social Work degree and has recently begun providing therapy services for Choices Counseling, as well. Her work experience includes working with the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services and as an intensive family preservation worker.
Daniel Tipton, MS LMHC
Daniel has a Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He began working with Choices as a BHIS worker in January of 2013. Prior to that, he was a crisis counselor with the Department of Human Services in Iowa. He currently provides therapy services to children, adults, and couples.
Michelle Mullen, LMSW
Michelle graduated with an MSW from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Michelle graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Nebraska Wesleyan University. Prior to working for Choices, Michelle had over 3 years of experience providing in-home family centered services. She has provided BHIS services for Choices and currently provides therapy services to children, adults, and families.

Robin Rowland, LISW
Robin is the director of the Sioux City office. Robin is a licensed independent social worker. Robin earned her Masters in Social Work degree from the University of Iowa. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Social Work. Robin has 14 years of experience in the Human Services field and has been a licensed therapist since 2007. Robin is the adoptive parent of four children.
Courtney Kilberg, MS
Courtney Kilberg is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor that received her Bachelors and Masters degrees from Wayne State College. She specializes in PCIT and CBT with individuals and family therapy with children and youth as the target client. She is originally from Nebraska and moved to Sioux City 5 years ago. She was married April 13th, 2013 and has two sons and one stepson.
Melissa Schuldt, LMSW
Melissa earned Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Iowa and her Bachelors degree in Psychology and Social Work from the University of South Dakota . Melissa is a Licensed Masters Social Worker and is currently working toward her independent level. She has over 10 years of experience working in the mental health field. Melissa currently serves individuals, couples, and families. Melissa is a Licensed Masters Social Worker in Iowa and is currently working toward her independent level. She specializes in the use EMDR, and Trauma Focused Therapy.
Elaine Blickestaff, MS LMHP
Elaine is a licensed mental health therapist. She earned her master of science degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She earned her bachelor's degree from the College of St. Mary in human services with a minor in psychology. She has worked in the mental health business for 22 years with 10 years as a therapist. Elaine has worked with children, adolescents, and adults in many settings. She enjoys helping individuals and families make the changes that helps them reach their own personal goals.
Mindy Hinton, MS LMHP
Mindy Hinton, LMHP has had over 15 years experience working with both young children, adolescents and their families through group home, home and office-based settings. Mindy has worked closely with sexual trauma and domestic violence. Mindy’s experience with children and families includes working with the Intensive Family Preservation Program as a family therapist and crisis intervention. These programs were designed to help children and families that were in crisis, and if possible, to prevent children from having to be removed from the home. Mindy also completed a year long internship with the YWCA in Omaha and was given close supervision and hands-on experience working with Dialectical Behavioral Therapy for both adults and adolescents. Interventions utilized throughout these experiences include age-appropriate boundaries, identification and expression of feelings, play therapy techniques, parenting strategies (including expectations and consequences) to offer parents comprehension of developmental stages, coping and relaxation strategies, process through and heal from trauma, and education to parents on how children are impacted by trauma. Mindy has also supervised both provisionally and fully licensed therapists in strategies they can utilize with young children and their families.
Mickey graduated with her Masters degree in Community Counseling and Criminal Justice from UNO. Mickey has over 20 years of experience working in the human service field, at such places as the YES House, Omni Behavioral Health, Richard Young, CSI, NFC, Capstone, and Behaven. She has volunteered for Metropolitan Child Advocacy Coalition since 2011. Mickey currently provides individual, family and couples therapy in Nebraska.
Marge graduated with both a Bachelors degree and a Masters degree in Human Behavior Counseling from Wayne State College. Marge has 13 years of experience working in the human service field. Marge currently provides individual, family and couples therapy in Nebraska, as well as adult and child BHIS services and FSRP services in Iowa.
Candace Newland, MS LMHP
Candace has been conducting individual and family therapy in the home and office settings since 2005. The people she serves range from pre-school age to geriatrics. She works with a variety of issues, such as anxiety, depression, communication, abuse and trauma, emotional distress, anger-management, parenting, independent living needs, parent-child interactions and relationship conflict. To meet the needs of her clients, Candace utilizes many different interventions, such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Parent-Child Interactive Therapy, conflict-resolution strategies, relaxation and exposure activities, narrative therapy, parenting techniques, and solution focused activities.
Candace graduated from Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri with her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology in 2000 and her Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology in 2004. She has had continuing education training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, Sensory Processing Disorders, Behavioral Techniques, and additional activities related to my clientele.
Currently, Candace is in the process of becoming a certified Parent-Child Interaction Therapist with the intention of helping children and families improve interactions, decrease oppositional behaviors, and increase self-confidence.
Candace's passion is to help her clients become happy, healthy, confident individuals by teaching strategies to alleviate emotional distress and by working through painful experiences and relationship issues. She also desires to help individuals and families develop meaningful connections that will provide life-long support and encouragement in their lives.

Tim Green, BS
Tim attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, where he received his Bachelor Degree. He has been in the social field for 10 years. He first started out as a mentor while he was a student. After graduation he went on to be a RMHS(residential mental health specialist). He has recently joined Choices and is currently providing BHIS services. Tim is married with two children.
Aaron Hurtado, BS
Aaron is a graduate of the University of Nebraska - Lincoln with a bachelors degree in Psychology. He has worked in a variety of setting involving youth and families for the last 5 years. Aaron currently provides BHIS for children and families in the southwest area of Iowa. He thoroughly enjoys working with kids and maximizing their ability to succeed in life.
Susan Johnson, BS
Susan has a bachelor's degree in psychology from Bellevue University. Susan has over 17 years of experience in working with children and families in a variety of settings. She has worked as a family support worker, foster care coordinator, residential staff member and homeless services. Susan has been providing BHIS services for the past 13 years.
Sylvia possesses both a Bachelors degree and a Masters degree in Human Services from Bellevue University. Sylvia has over 5 years of experience working in the human services field in a variety of capacities. She has provided intensive family preservation services, foster care services, and home-based therapy. Sylvia currently provides BHIS services and CMH services. Sylvia is also a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Jennifer possesses a Bachelors degree in Social Work from Colorado State University. She has over 9 years of experience working with youth and their families in a variety of settings. She has worked as a foster care specialist, family specialist, and family partner prior to her employment with Choices Counseling. Jennifer is currently providing BHIS services for both youth and adults and is also able to provide CMH services. Jennifer is currently pursuing her Masters degree.
Kelly Haack, BS
Kelly earned her Bachelor's degree in Education from Concordia University. She is currently pursuing her Master's degree through Liberty University. Currently, Kelly is completing her internship with Choices Counseling and is providing probono therapy services.
Kani Rubango, BA
Kani earned her BA in Psychology from Creighton University. She is currently pursuing her Master's degree in Social Work at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Kani has worked with severely emotionally disturbed children, as a nanny and with the ALS of the Heartland foundation. She was honored with the African American Young Professional award. She is currently providing probono therapy at Choices Counseling.

Bruce Maffit, BS
Bruce is from Sioux City and attended Briar Cliff University where he received his Bachelor's Degree. Bruce has been in this field for 13 years. He began his career as a resident counselor at the Crittenton Center shelter. He was a supervisor there and transitioned to providing Remedial services and then Behavior Health Intervention Services (BHIS).Bruce also sits on the Iowa Association of Student Councils Board and is the only non-educator on the board. He had been on staff at the Iowa Leadership Training Camp for the past 15 years and has been the Camp Director for the last 3 years.
Jennifer Ruden, BS
Jennifer earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Buena Vista University and a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Walden University in Minneapolis, MN. She has over ten years of experience working in the Human Service Field. She specializes in working with adolescents with Oppositional Defiant Disorders and Conduct Disorder. She currently provides individual, couples, and family therapy. Prior to providing therapy Jennifer worked as BHIS provider. Jennifer is married and has three children.
